Memories of the Future..

I wonder what it is about people that makes us who we are.
I wonder why we can't all think the same way and get on with life, why can we not just move on from the things that hurt us? Let them go and carry on with life? Is it so hard to just forget something and move away from it? Why do they stick with us for so long and keep us alert with a sharp stab to the memory center of the brain?

Some people are able to seemingly forget things that happened the day before, things that might have sent them into a fiery rage, things that made their blood boil. Why is that? Why are we all wired so differently?
I wish I could let go of things and brush them under the rug. I wonder why there are painful reminders of bust ups and mess ups waiting around every corner at times. Why do certain memories produce a physical reaction, memories that make you cringe at the thought of them or memories that make you shudder or gasp or even weep at the reminder. Of course there are memories that do the same but are positive instead of negative, but the question remains the same, why? how? What purpose does this serve?

Do animals have this same reaction, response or feelings towards their memories, how much can they recall?
These questions plague me daily, I find myself looking at strangers on the bus, watching them, wondering if a flinch or a sigh is the result of recalling an embarrassing moment  or something that they have experienced that is profoundly sad. Are there ways of making these things slide out of your mind with out a psychological effect? Like the folk in Harry Potter that remove thoughts and memories, storing them in little flacons stoppered with a little hunk of cork, for use when they want or to share it with someone. I wonder if that will be possible in the future. We all know that from research that suppressing memories is bad for you, causing many issues with ones personality, what if there was a way to do so without damaging the makeup of your brain and personality, what if people could take away the memories and store them away, or even throw them away.

The possibilities are endless, you could recall what you saw and share it with other people, crime solving would be so much easier, I think there would be a lot more people walking around with smiles on their faces. then again there are also issues with this notion, when will that power become abused? Could this be used against people by corrupt centers that are present in society?

So many questions and no real answers.
