Sometimes I have to wonder why the world is so full of capitalism. I think more than anything that is what drives me insane, capitalism.
Today for example, is Monday and it is the first day of the college week. First lesson was English lit and as I was expecting people asked me about the Harry Potter world trip that I was on last Friday,
you will never guess what happened, I one of the first questions I was asked was
WHAT DID YOU BUY IN THE SHOP??!!
Is it just me or is that utterly idiotic? You pay £20 to go on this trip, to LEARN about the industry of the Harry Potter Films and the biggest thing people are concerned about is what you bought and how much money you spent?
I bought a Dark Mark Lolly and a post card, which totaled to £3.38. That was it! I don't see the point in spending my wages on buying a cloak for £80 just because it has a Slytherin badge on it. (Yes, I am in Slytherin, no, not because I'm bald and look like a nosy Voldemort)
Quite frankly, I can buy a brilliant quality Hooded VELVET Black cloak with a silk green liner for £22 that is Slytherin enough for me.
And IT IS MUCH BETTER QUALITY AS THEY ARE MADE TO ORDER and not mass produced.
Call me crazy but I prefer quality over capitalist merchandise.
Conspicuous consumerism, it will eat your brain man.
